IMD Weather Update: There is relief from fog today due to strong winds in many states of North India. However, there is fog in the northeastern states. According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog is being seen in North Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim in the morning. There is no hope of respite from morning fog in these states during the next 48 hours.
Shivering cold in these states
Due to cold winds, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are experiencing severe winter. Frost is occurring in the morning in many states including Himachal, Southern Haryana and Uttarakhand. During the last 24 hours, the minimum temperature in most parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, plains of Uttarakhand, North Rajasthan remained between 4-8 degrees Celsius, which is below normal. Karnal (Haryana) recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 4.2°C.
Alert of rain and snowfall in these states
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of scattered rain and snowfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura during the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rain may also occur at some places.
People of Delhi-NCR have got relief from dense fog since this morning. The weather office has predicted clear sky and surface winds at a speed of 20-30 kilometers per hour during the day even today. The maximum temperature is likely to be 21 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature recorded in Delhi on Wednesday was 9.4 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees below the season’s average.

No respite from cold wave in Kashmir
At the same time, the people of Jammu and Kashmir did not get any respite from the severe cold wave even today. The minimum temperature remained several degrees below freezing point at most places in the valley. An official of the Meteorological Department said that Pahalgam valley located in South Kashmir was the coldest place. The minimum temperature here was recorded at minus 10.8 degrees Celsius. Gulmarg skiing resort in north Kashmir recorded a minimum of minus 10.0 degrees Celsius. Earlier it was minus 10.5 degrees Celsius. Kokernag and Qazigund in south Kashmir recorded minimum temperatures of minus 4.3 degrees and minus 3.2 degrees Celsius respectively.
