A video is going viral on social media in which a thief is committing robbery in broad daylight in America’s Apple Store. In the clip, a masked man dressed in black walks from one table to another, picking up phones from displays and placing them in his pockets. Before making a hasty exit, he picks up dozens of phones, each worth hundreds of dollars. Surprisingly, a police car is also visible on the road in the video. However, police said there were no officers in the area at the time of the theft and the vehicle was unoccupied.

The thief stole 50 iPhones

According to CBS News, the incident happened on Monday at an Apple Store in Emeryville, California. The man ran away with about 50 iPhones kept on display in the store, which were worth $49,230 (40 lakh 86 thousand rupees). Police said that they received information about the theft on Monday morning. The caller told police the suspect had fled in a vehicle with the phone.

The Emeryville Police Department said the police vehicle seen in the video was an “empty car”, which is used to stop crime. He said there was no officer inside the vehicle. Police identified the suspect in the video as Tyler Mims, a 22-year-old native of Berkeley. Three cases of conspiracy, three cases of theft, three cases of major theft and three cases of petty theft have been registered against the criminal. He is currently lodged in Santa Rail prison in Dublin. Who has to appear in court on Friday.
