The attack occurred in the Kot Azam area of the Tank district when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a security team protecting polling workers, the local police emergency center told Anadolu by phone. It said that voting at Kot Azam station has been temporarily stopped.

The tank borders the Waziristan district near the Afghan border. Pakistan has closed its border with Afghanistan and Iran due to the ongoing voting in its country.
