Pakistan News: Nawaz Sharif has lost the election from Mansehra seat. Independent candidate Shahzada Gastasap gave him a crushing defeat. Shahzada Gastasap got 74,713 votes, while Nawaz had to be content with 63,054 votes. Counting continues after the end of voting for the National Assembly and provincial elections in Pakistan. However, the official results are expected to come today i.e. by 9th February only. Mansehra is considered the stronghold of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. Despite this he had to face defeat. However, apart from Mansehra, Nawaz Sharif has presented his claim from Lahore.
According to media reports, Imran Khan’s party candidate is leading on 154 seats, while Nawaz Sharif’s party PML(N) and Bilawal Bhutto’s party PPP are leading on 47 seats each. Candidates from other parties are leading on four seats. Imran Khan’s party chairman Barrister Gauhar Ali Khan has claimed that his party will stake claim to form the government.
Maryam Nawaz claims, ‘Government will be ours’
On the other hand, regarding the victory of PML-N i.e. Nawaz Sharif’s party, Nawaz’s daughter Maryam Aurangzeb claimed that our government will be formed in the center along with Punjab province. With this a new era of public service will begin. He said that mobile service and internet service are closed hence there is a delay in getting the result. But PML-N’s position is strong.
Only 8 results announced so far
More than 13 hours after polling stations closed, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has been able to announce only eight National Assembly results. According to the trends at 6 am, three out of eight seats have been won by candidates affiliated with PTI. Earlier, the internet was almost shut down in Pakistan since yesterday evening, which was restored around 2 am today. Even the results being shown by the media have been stopped. All this has happened when candidates supported by jailed Imran Khan’s party started gaining lead.
Imran’s candidates won, hence delay in results: PTI claims
Workers of Imran’s party PTI have claimed that the results are being delayed because their party’s candidates are winning. According to PTI’s Omari Ayub, the screens in the offices of many returning officers have been switched off.
