Both Khan-led party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and PML-N are claiming victory in the elections.

The former Finance Minister told ‘Geo News’ on Friday, “Independents have contacted us and they will join any party in the next 72 hours as per the Constitution.” Dar said that PML-N will not allow anyone to join the party. The former finance minister said, “If independents do not join any political party, they will lose the reserved seats.”

60 seats are reserved for women

Voting is held for only 266 out of 336 seats in the National Assembly. But in Bajaur, voting on one seat was postponed after a candidate was killed in the attack. Another 60 seats are reserved for women and 10 for minorities, and these are allocated to the winning parties on the basis of proportional representation. Dar claimed that the Shehbaz Sharif-led party has a majority in Punjab and has won most of the National Assembly seats in the elections.
